Concord University (Marsh Family Memorial Carillon)
The carillon at Concord University was installed in 1997 through a generous gift from former University President Dr. Joseph F. Marsh. His gift helped establish an endowment for not only the building of the carillon, but a full-time music faculty to oversee the University’s carillon and pipe organ. The 48-bell Marsh Memorial Carillon sets on top of the main university classroom building. Dr. Jacob Womack currently serves as the Marsh Endowed Associated Professor of Music and Carillonneur, and as the Chair of the Department of Fine Arts and Communication at Concord University.
Concord University offers degrees in music education and music interdisciplinary studies. Nestled in the hills of southern West Virginia, the university is known as the “campus beautiful” for its breathtaking views of the Appalachian mountains. The university is located less than an hour from the New River Gorge National Park, numerous waterfalls, and many other wild and wonderful outdoor parks.
