About:
Surrounded by park land in Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley, the Luray Singing Tower, officially known as the Belle Brown Northcott Memorial, contains a carillon of 47 bells cast by the Taylor Bellfoundry of Loughborough, England. Dedicated in 1937, it was a gift to the town of Luray by the late Col. T. C. Northcott and his daughter, Katherine Northcott Graves, in memory of Col. Northcott’s wife, Belle Brown Northcott. The bells’ total weight is 36,170 pounds, ranging from the largest bell (7,640 pounds), to its smallest (12.5 pounds). Summer recitals are offered Saturdays (7pm) and Sundays (3 pm) from May 28 through September 4, with special holiday programs at 3 pm on Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.
