Built in 1996, the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Carillon rings out across the North Campus of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. A gift to the School of Engineering from the Robert and Ann Lurie Family Foundation, it contains 60 bronze bells cast by Eijsbouts and transposes down two semitones. The Lurie Carillon hosts a joint summer concert series with the Baird Carillon and is played on weekdays at 1:20 during the academic year by University Carillonist Dr. Tiffany Ng, area carillonists, and members of the @umcarillon studio and student-run guild. The tower lies a short walk from the main buildings of the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, which offers one of the only master’s degrees in carillon in the world. The tower occasionally plays host to collaborations within @umichsmtd, including with members of the Department of Organ, @umichpat, and @umich.composers.
